Example household snapshot

If you add bank balances, investments, property, and gold, then subtract loans and credit card dues, the remaining amount is your net worth snapshot.

Property, gold, vehicles, and unlisted holdings are approximate. The amount available after a real sale may be lower after tax, brokerage, resale spread, loan closure charges, or delays in finding a buyer.

When to use this calculator

  • Creating a household snapshot of what you own and what you owe.
  • Checking liquid money that can be accessed quickly.
  • Reviewing debt levels alongside assets.
  • Estimating how approximate property, gold, and unlisted holding values affect the picture.
How this estimate is calculated

This shows the simplified method used for the estimate. It is meant for transparency, not as a full financial model.

Formula

Net Worth = Total Assets - Total Liabilities Liquidity Ratio = Liquid Assets / Monthly Expenses Debt-to-Asset Ratio = Total Liabilities / Total Assets

Scroll sideways if the formula is wider than the screen.

AssetsSum of liquid assets, investments, and property/physical assets

Market values of property and investments fluctuate. Tax, sale costs, brokerage, gold resale spreads, loan closure charges, and illiquidity are not included unless the values entered already reflect them.

Frequently asked questions

What is net worth?
Net worth is what you own minus what you owe. It combines assets such as cash, investments, property, and gold, then subtracts liabilities such as loans and credit card balances.
What should I include as assets?
Include money and property you can reasonably value, such as bank balances, investments, EPF, PPF, NPS, gold, real estate, vehicles, and business ownership where relevant.
What should I include as liabilities?
Include what you owe, such as home loans, personal loans, vehicle loans, education loans, business loans, credit card balances, family loans, and other obligations.
What is liquid net worth?
Liquid net worth focuses on money you can access quickly, such as savings accounts and short-term liquid assets. It excludes assets that may take time or cost money to sell.
Should I include my house?
You can include your house as an asset if you want a complete household snapshot. Remember that property values are approximate and sale costs, taxes, and time to sell are not automatically included.
Does this include tax or sale costs?
No. Capital gains tax, brokerage, stamp duty effects, gold resale spread, loan closure charges, and other sale costs are excluded unless you enter values already adjusted for them.
